Risk-sharing and risk reduction
The two main options to deal with high-impact risks are risk sharing, for instance through insurance or capital markets, and risk reduction, for instance through precautionary investment into prevention and response measures. Both require a precise understanding of the high-impact event and its risk of occurring as well as a high degree of cooperation and coordination of potentially affected parties.
Our activities are designed to pursue the following aims:
- identify and understand high-impact risks
- devise risk sharing and prevention strategies for high-impact events
- contribute to overcoming collective action and coordination problems
- mobilise academic, economic and political resources
- help direct and coordinate activities to achieve maximum effectiveness of invested resources
- promote stakeholders“ awareness of high-impact risks
Aim to set up a grant program
As a first step to reach our goals, we aim to set up a Grant Program to finance projects aimed at better understanding and reducing high-impact risks. Our work is currently dedicated to preparational work for a fundraising campaign.
